Well all I can say is wow! If you are unaware/not seen this amazing film than you really have not lived. The only way I can describe it would be Devil Wears Prada/Ugly Betty plus so much more! Its a documentary about the extraordinary and adventurous life of Anna Wintour (editor of vogue). So after watching the film I felt inspired to do a little research of my own and find my top 10 front covers all the iconic Vogue September issue!
10. September 2004
Model - Kate Moss
The reason I chose this copy was because the colour scheme is perfect! I love the dark sky blue it looks fabulous behind the leopard dress, It really makes the dress stand out. Another reason I chose this was because of the fashion icon Kate Moss on the cover, her hair looks gorgeous. #hairgoals
9. September 1964
Model- Jean Shrimpton
The theme for this issue was Britain! The concept behind it was to show the demand of British fashion. I adore the vintage feel, the floral dress and chunky stone earrings brighten the models face. Furthermore, you can see the defined check bones using bronzer which is in fashion right now!
8. September 1939
One word to describe this issue is history. "In accordance with the Government wish that businesses should carry on so far as possible, Vogue will continue to be published during the war, but as a monthly magazine." This is so iconic, it marks the start of the war and the success that Britain would encounter. Apart from the history, I love the title as its in the different vogue font from normal.
7. September 1925
This issue has no context possibly because its decades old. This cover was before celebrity, models or photographers, just art. Looking at the fashion illustrated it screams the 20's, the long flapper style dress, long thin scarf and silver tone. Even the background and props scream the 20's.
6. September 1998
Models -Angela Lindvall, Bridget Hall and Carolyn Murphy
This issue has a special part in my heart because it was realised the year I was born. This issue is more modern, and looks almost identical the ones we see now a day. The models are wearing Dolce and Gabbana. As always the fashion screams 90's, The metallic silver dress with the different tones of pink are perfect! The cover story entitled 'COSMETIC SURGERY' makes me laugh because I assume this is when surgery started to become a big part of society.
5. September 1993
Model - Christy Turlington
The chic all black look here is beautiful! you can clearly seethe different textures of the hat and jacket, which just adds more dimension and style to the outfit!
4. September 1990
Model - Jade Jagger
Photographed in Paris. Jagger is now a jewellery designer but formally was a model, More famously her sister is Georgia Jagger who famously modelled for rimmel. The dark make up is so beautiful on Jade. I love the strong eyebrows and defined lips. A look I would definitely go for.
3. September 1961
No models, no fancy cameras, no celebs. It just focuses on fashion and beauty! I personally love this cover because it has no celebs, I would must rather see this hit the news stands than a half naked Kim Kardashian marrying for the millionth time.
2. September 1992
Model - Linda Evangeliista
It is no surprise that my second favourite cover includes the city of my dreams New York. Other than NYC, I love how they have moved away from elegance and class and put a biker girl on the
cover!
1. September 1958
Model - Nena Von Schlebrugge
Faux fur! My love. The fur, the sea green eye shadow, the pink lipstick. Everything just makes this cover beautiful!
Goodbye,
Love
